How we discussed earlier this weeksomething funny is happening Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX: TLS) shares late

Telstra is one of the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) is the most prominent and dominant blue stock chips. It’s also a company that the vast majority of Australians are familiar with.

As Telstra has been listed on the ASX for over two decades, most investors will be familiar with its ticker TLS.

And yet the old Telstra we all know and (maybe) love looks a little different this week.

On the one hand, asking for a price on “TLS shares” may not be very fruitful.

Instead, you can find the current Telstra share price by using the code ‘TLSDA’. One might argue that it doesn’t quite roll off the tongue in the same way.

So we have TLS and TLSDA. Does this mean Telstra now has two ticker codes?

Is it TLS or TLSDA for Telstra stock?

Well, not really. The TLS code is not working at the moment. But they did not die out. Telstra is effectively in the midst of a corporate and legal restructuring. Its name will soon change to “Telstra Group Limited” rather than “Telstra Corporation Limited”.

This suggests that Telstra will soon legally become the new holding company for its four now separate core businesses: ServeCo, InfraCo Fixed, Amplitel and Telstra International.

According to to the companyhe carries out this renovation to “increase attention to its customers and infrastructure enterprises, increase asset transparency in these businesses and create greater flexibility and capability realize the value of Telstra Group’s fixed infrastructure assets over time.”

But when this whole operation is complete, traditionalists will be relieved to know that Telstra shares will revert to their old TLS code. It is expected to happen on November 1.

In the meantime, don’t forget to use TLSDA to find Telstra share prices.
