G70 Shooting Brake – The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is something of an unusual vehicle because over the past 10 years we’ve seen wagons being replaced by SUVs, but Genesis has released their wagon in late 2021. Available in two versions, Luxury and Sportline, along with the optional Brembo brake package.
The styling is crisp, definitely versatile, yet sleek, elegant and lush with sporty energy.
Inside – all the luxury and comfort. Heated and ventilated Red Nappa leather quilted front seats provide luxurious comfort for passengers.
The layout is subtle and functional. And if you feel the need, there are a few built-in sound options like rainforest and gentle rain to soothe those busy commuter commutes.

The G70 Shooting Brake has a range of technology, including dashboard indicator cameras, a 12.3-inch digital cluster 3D display and a 10.25-inch satellite navigation infotainment system, the advanced Genesis Active Safety Control package and 10 airbags.
Powering the G70 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 179kW and 353Nm and drives the rear wheels through an advanced in-house eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The ride and handling can be changed with the Drive Mode Select function.
The G70 and GV70 series are something special from Genesis, and the G70 Shooting Brake fits that description well. Now if only they would release one with AWD and a bigger 3.3t engine
Priced at around $78,200 plus normal costs.

More details on the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake
First launched in November 2021, the G7 Shooting Brake has added another dimension to the excellent G7 range.
It depicts the sedan with two variants, the Luxury and Sport Line packages.
What does the G70 Shooting Brake look like?
In one word – beautiful.
It appears to have an almost coupe-like profile with the practicality of a wagon.
Up front, you see a sleek hood with Quad Lamp architecture and the signature Genesis Crest grille.
The rear features a unique and sporty treatment that includes a one-piece glass sunroof and an integrated rear spoiler, quad taillights and twin tailpipes.
The new tailgate and trunk design make the G70 more practical than ever before. Boot space in the G70 Shooting Brake increases to 465 liters compared to 330 liters in the sedan model.
A free optional Sport Line styling package is offered, which includes a Sport Line interior, 19-inch sport alloy wheels, a sport grille and dark chrome exterior elements.
Other exterior features include Intelligent Front Lighting System (IFS), Acoustic Laminated Windshield and Front Door Glass, Panoramic Sunroof.
Customers can create their own unique G70 Shooting Brake with a choice of 15 exterior colours, including three matt finishes, exclusive to the Sport Line Styling variants.
What’s inside the G70 Shooting Brake?
All Genesis vehicles combine luxury features, excellent fit and finish with a premium feel.
The heated and ventilated driver’s seat, which can be adjusted in 16 directions, provides excellent driver comfort.
The general layout of the instruments and the dashboard is focused on the ergonomics of the driver.
The G70 Shooting Brake features a Nappa leather interior with rich tactile G Matrix-style trim and stylish aluminum inserts with a geometric pattern.
The optional Sport Line Styling package tops this off with Sport interior stitching, aluminum inserts in a sport-style swirl pattern finish and sports pedals.
Upholstery color choices include vibrant Sevilla Red, sophisticated Velvet Burgundy and classic Obsidian black among a choice of seven interior colors in Sport Line and standard styling.
Rear seat comfort is good, but legroom is very limited. Unfortunately, the rear seats do not fold, as this would make the space even more functional.

G70 Shooting Brake engine and transmission

What is the G70 Shooting Brake like to drive?
Although the engine is not the powerful 3.3-liter version, it provides enough activity for the driver when combined with rear-wheel drive and an efficient automatic transmission.
The suspension manages to soak up most bumps while maintaining enough stiffness to deliver excellent dynamics.
For more enthusiastic drivers, there is a selective Drive Mode with 5 settings; Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Custom

Final thoughts
The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is both a pleasant surprise and a disappointment.
It’s amazing how convenient and practical it is. As you’d expect from the Genesis, it’s great value for money, packed with little luxuries and generally a place to relax.
The disappointment is that the Genesis has the powerful 3.3T engine and AWD system and does not offer them in the Shooting Brake version.
