Australia Post: It’s the last day to send Christmas gifts

Australia Post has announced the last dates for Christmas gifts and cards to be sent overseas to ensure they reach their destination in time for the festive season.

Some popular destinations, such as China, South Africa and Sri Lanka, require parcels and letters to be sent as early as November 14 in order to be delivered by Christmas.

For those wanting to send parcels and letters to the UK, you will need to receive them in the post by November 2nd for Ordinary Post and November 21st for Economy Post.

If you are shipping to America, you will have a deadline of November 28th for Standard Mail and November 21st for Economy Airline.

Parcels and letters sent to New Zealand must be sent by 2 December for Standard Post and 25 November for Economy Post.

If you are trying to send parcels and letters to China, you will need to receive them in the mail by November 21st for regular mail and November 14th for economy mail.

For those of you who aren’t as organized this holiday season, the last date you can send gifts to popular countries like the US, UK, New Zealand and Canada is December 9 if you send them via international express.

Australia Post has not yet announced final delivery dates for interstate messages.

Customers looking for the latest delivery dates to a specific country are advised to visit the Australia Post website for more information, according to executive general manager Gary Starr.

“We know our latest dispatch dates are an important reference point for people in the run-up to Christmas and we’ve been preparing all year for another busy peak season to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible,” Mr Starr said.

“We encourage anyone looking to ship overseas for Christmas this year to visit our website and post on the recommended dates.

“As always, we will continue to deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as possible, but they may not arrive until after Christmas.”
