We take a look at today’s AFL Brownlow medal tally and give our tips and bets, as well as listing the favorites in the market where Lachie Neill heads the head-to-head odds.
TIP: Lachie Neal (Brice) @ 3.25 US dollars
The phrase “Dual Brownlow Lachie Neill” seems about right, and the Lions’ superstar halfback looks on course to win his second Brownlow in three seasons.
Neill has played in all 22 games this season averaging 30 disposals, has had most of Sherin for the Lions’ 11 wins and has scored at least 1+ goals in seven of those games and has been named man-on-ground in as many matches or took second place according to the voting results.
That statistic ticks all the boxes for Brownlow pollsters, and most of those figures have also been achieved by nine of the last 10 players to bring Charlie home, including Neil himself when he won by the length of Flemington Street in 2020.
The only game he won’t be polling is the Lions’ Round 23 loss to the Demons, but by then he may have already won a medal.
While I expect a tight finish in the medal tally, Neil will be streets ahead of any of his Lions teammates when it comes to getting votes, and with Brisbane on a 15-game home-and-away winning streak, all roads point to Lachie Neal Brownlow.
TOP 3 BET
TIP: Tuc Miller (GC Suns) @ 3 dollars
If he was playing at a big club, Miller would be talked about as one of the AFL’s superstars, but alas, he is an off-Broadway (or should I say Broadbeach) hunk for the Gold Coast Suns.
Although he wasn’t among the Suns’ best in their big win over North in the last round, Miller made a late-season charge, averaging 28.5 disposals per game and was among the when the Suns played some of their best ball in the 2022 season.
Various vote predictors have Miller with 21-22 votes, and he’s an $8 outsider to win it all.
It’s worth dealing with the $3 on offer and has every chance of matching the likes of Andy Brayshaw and Christian Petracca in third if the thriller counts.
