The Florida Department of Transportation reported that a section of Interstate 75 (I-75) was closed on Friday, September 30, after it was flooded by rising waters from the Mecca River. The Mecca River crested at 12.67 feet (3.87 m) early Saturday morning after Hurricane Ian passed through the state, the National Weather Service said. Footage captured by Brittany Rose, which she said was taken Friday, shows flooded cars on I-75 in North Port. Local, state and federal officials continued search and rescue operations in areas affected by Hurricane Ian, according to the Florida Department of Highway and Motor Vehicle Safety and the Florida Highway Patrol.
