Complete ban on EU trade with Russia: Poland

Poland has proposed that the European Union impose a total ban on trade with Russia, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, calling for tougher sanctions against Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.

“Poland proposes to add a trade blockade to this package of sanctions as soon as possible, (including) both seaports … but also to ban land trade,” Morawiecki said.

“A complete cessation of Russia’s trade will make Russia wonder whether it would be better to end this brutal war.”

Earlier this week, EU member states agreed on a fourth package of sanctions against Russia.

Details were not disclosed, but the French presidency said Russia’s “most-favored-nation” trade status would be lifted.
