Liberal candidate Catherine Daves lost Waring’s chair after independent candidate Hall Steggal retained her seat in the electorate in yesterday’s election.
She says she is “incredibly proud” of the volunteers who helped in her campaign, “given what we started with and where we got to.”
“I think he goes out with me and points out that there are problems with this so-called modern feminism, if they can’t even determine what a woman is – I think the ordinary Australian people resonated with that,” she told Sky News Australia.
Ms. Daves said she “will not go anywhere” and still hopes that “other women will feel empowered to follow in my footsteps.”
“I wanted my daughters to be proud, I wanted to stand up for the people of Australia who asked me to keep going.”
