Eddie Murphy ordered to pay more child support to former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.

The 61-year-old American actor agreed to fork out A$54,000 in monthly payments to the 47-year-old English singer after they had a daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, in 2007. Now she is 15.

Murphy was previously paid A$39,000 a month before Brown filed court papers in 2020 seeking increased payments, claiming her income had “dropped dramatically”.

According to court documents seen by Daily Mail, Brown’s lawyers wrote: “Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to maintain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel. “Unfortunately, Melanie’s income has dropped dramatically, so she has to consider a modification of child support for the first time.”

Murphy, described in the filings as “extremely highly paid,” agreed to make additional payments starting last October until Angelo turns 18 in a settlement reached in August. He also signed off on funding Brown’s legal fees.

Until recently, Murphy, who has 10 children by various women, had no relationship with Angel, denying that he was the father when Brown became pregnant in 2006. A paternity test soon confirmed that he was.

The couple met that year following Murphy’s divorce from actress Nicole Mitchell, but split before Angel was born.

Brown, who reached a settlement with Murphy in 2009, opened up about their split in her 2018 memoir, Brutally honest.

Former Scary Spice who was a judge on the last season Masked singer Australiaclaimed Murphy was the love of her life, but she was “spectacularly dumped” after leaving him for a few days to think about their relationship when talks to buy a house together broke down.

“I said to Eddie, ‘I need a few days off. I need time to think.’ “Are you crazy?” he said. “What do you have to think about?” Brown wrote in her book.

Brown wrote that she had flown home to Leeds to see her mum Andrea before returning to Los Angeles in a few days to “make it work”.

But while she was on the plane, a TV reporter asked Murphy about the pregnancy, to which he replied: “We’re not together anymore and I don’t know whose baby it is until it comes out and bleeds. test.”

“I felt sick, humiliated and confused,” Brown wrote of the moment.

Murphy called Brown to say he was caught off guard before he cut her off completely, she claimed. “I was madly in love with Eddie and I lost him.”

However, Brown wrote that Murphy and his mother, Lillian, now play a fundamental role in Angel’s life.

“It’s funny because now his mom is in my life and she’s like, ‘You’ve always been my favorite,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, enough, Lillian.’ Angel now spends the weekend with Eddie, and for her to meet the man she reminds me of so much is one of the greatest joys of my life.”

She also opened up about her financial struggles after her messy breakup with Stephen Belafonte in 2017.

“Over the last 20-odd years of my life, I’ve made over £80 million (A$140 million). When I met my second husband (Steven), I had a house and a loft in Los Angeles and a good career. When I left him, I left with US$936 (A$1,276) in the bank,” Brown wrote in her book.
