Fire in Malaga: The owner of the business survived a fire in an auto shop

The man was “lucky to stay alive” after trying to put out a fire at his auto shop in Malaga.

Firefighters were called to the fire at TA Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning on Marshall Road, near Belenfin Drive, just after Saturday afternoon.

The store owner, who was the only person in the building at the time, was taken to St. John’s Ambulance Hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Employees of a nearby store said the owner was “lucky to stay alive” after trying to put out the fire with a hose.

“But … we heard a big bang,” said one employee.

“Thank God he’s fine … we thought he was going to be coal.”

The host’s sister told The West Australian that the fire was an accident and her brother was fine.

“I got a call – it was very scary, but they said he was not hurt,” she said.

Firefighters put out the blaze within half an hour.

Investigators are finding out the causes of the fire.
