Soon students will be able to board school buses that are 100% electric.
Showcase SEA Electric at Expo Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT). in the US includes a fully electric type C school bus, available as part of the Ride & Drive event.
The car is the result of a partnership between SEA Electric and Midwest Transit Equipment (MTE), which has committed to converting 10,000 school buses across America using zero-emission technology.
This deal, the largest of its kind to date, will get 100% electric school buses across the country for a fraction of the cost of a brand new car. This deal for Type A and Type C buses is scheduled to be delivered over the next five years.
The SEA-Drive power system used in vehicles does not emit carbon dioxide, methane or nitrous oxide. In addition, implementing MTE’s strategy to transform existing internal combustion vehicles significantly reduces waste and removes harmful particles from diesel fuel, improving the health and well-being of students and others on busy school bus routes.
Notably, the buses will be able to provide full capabilities from vehicles to the grid (V2G), and the SEA-Drive power system will be able to supply electricity back to the grid to increase stability when connected to a charging station.
