Ahead of the rematch, George Cambosas Jr. has dropped off the face of the Earth with the sole aim of securing an upset win over Devin Haynie following the American’s one-sided victory in June.
Midway through their bout at Rod Laver Arena, with Haynie taking control after a high-octane start as the Australian mixed and matched his style and went after the American, Kambosas’ corner delivered the harsh truth to the 29-year-old.
“Do you want to win this fight or not?” Said Corner Cambosas Jr., to which the Australian responded: “Yes, I am.”
Then it wasn’t Haney who hit him, but his corner.
“Well, what are you doing,” his corner replied as Cambosas tried to become the undisputed king of the lightweight division.

Haynie continued to dominate the bout, growing in confidence as he acclimated to Kambosas’ style, which switched from southpaw to orthodox.
Kambosas was bruised, bloodied and off his feet, but somehow managed to survive to the end of the 12 rounds.
Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) inflicted the second consecutive defeat of his career on Kambosas (21-2, 10 KOs), winning by unanimous decision (119-109, 118-110 x 2).
Haynie’s jab proved unstoppable in June, but his right hand was the difference in their second fight.
At the end of the match, Kambosas faltered several times, but managed to go the distance.
