Hurd testifies to Depp’s attack during the honeymoon

Amber Heard told the jury that Johnny Depp hit her against a wall and wrapped a shirt around her neck during their 2015 honeymoon trip on the Eastern Express.

Hurd has returned to the witness stand in Virginia, where jurors are considering defamation fights by ex-spouses.

The couple married in February 2015 and went on their honeymoon on the Eastern Express train in July of that year after Depp finished filming the fifth film, Pirates of the Caribbean.

During questioning by her lawyers, Hurd said the couple argued over whether Depp should drink during the trip.

She said they had a love affair when Depp was sober, but that he often became violent when drinking or using drugs.

In the sleeping car on the train, Hurd said, Depp hit her in the face and hit her body against the wall several times.

He then took off his shirt and wrapped it around his neck, she told the jury.

“So I woke up the next morning,” Hurd said.

“I woke up with what was still around my neck and a giant knot on the back of my head.”

Earlier, the star of “Pirates of the Caribbean” testified that he never beat Hurd, and claimed that she was an abuser in their relationship.

Depp, 58, is suing 36-year-old Hurd for $ 50 million ($ 73 million), saying she slandered him when she said she was a victim of domestic violence.

Hurd filed a counterclaim for $ 100 million, claiming that Depp disgraced her by calling her a liar.

In his testimony, Depp said that Hurd at one point threw a bottle of vodka, which cut off the top of the middle finger of Depp’s right.

Hurd denies that she cut off Depp’s finger, and said she hit him just to protect himself or his sister.

Depp’s lawyers are expected to begin cross-examination of Hurd later Monday.

The lawsuit is based on Hurd’s December 2018 article that appeared in the Washington Post.

Depp’s name was never mentioned in the article, but his lawyer told the jury that it was clear that Hurd was referring to him.

The couple’s divorce was completed in 2017.

Depp, who was once one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, said Hurd’s accusations cost him “everything”

The new movie “Pirates” was postponed, and Depp was replaced in the franchise of “Fantastic Monsters”, a spin-off about Harry Potter.

Hurd’s attorneys argued that she was telling the truth and that her opinion was protected by freedom of speech under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Closing remarks are scheduled for May 27.

Less than two years ago, Depp lost a libel case against the Sun, a British tabloid that called him a “wife beater.”

A London High Court judge has ruled that he has repeatedly attacked Hurd.

Depot’s attorneys have filed a lawsuit in Fairfax County, Virginia, as the Washington Post is printed there.

The newspaper is not accused.
