Tears were shed in Meter, Louisiana, on May 14 when a woman heard the heart of her deceased beat in the chest of a 14-year-old boy who received it. Footage recorded by the Louisiana Organs Procurement Agency shows Maria Peters Clark, whose 25-year-old son Nicholas, died in a car crash in September 2020 when he first met Jean-Paul Marceau and his family. Clark hugs Marceau, calling him “handsome,” before putting a stethoscope on his chest and exclaiming, “My God, it’s so strong,” hearing his heartbeat. Jean Paul’s mother, Candace Schaven-Armstrong, wrote about the meeting on Facebook, writing: “Today was one of the most beautiful days of my life !!!!!” The transplant in September 2020 was the second for Marso. He developed cardiomyopathy after being infected with the virus as a child. According to Shawn-Armstrong, he had his first heart transplant in 2 years, but about ten years later the heart began to fail. Credit: LOPA | @lopamakinglifehappen via Storyful
