Kane won three Golden Boot awards in the English Premier League – in 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2020-2021 – and scored 17 goals this season when Tottenham qualified for the Champions League.
Spurs teammate Son Hyun Min shared the award for the most goals in the Premier League with Mohamed Salah of Liverpool this season, the pair scoring 23 goals each.
Jurgen Klopp seems ready to add more firepower to his attack at Anfield. Nunez is close to moving to Liverpool for an initial contribution of £ 64 million (€ 75 million) from Benfica.
Last season, Nunez scored 48 goals in 85 games for Benfica in all competitions and averaged 1.2 goals every 90 minutes in the Portuguese Premier League.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has backed up his own ability to attack with Premier League champions Manchester City by launching a clause on the liberation of Holland in Borussia Dortmund.
Since moving from Salzburg in January 2020, the Norwegian national team has scored 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund, scoring an average of 84 minutes in all competitions.
Kane can’t expect to compete with the duo next season as the Premier League adds to their ranks more mascot talents.
“Look, I think the fight for the Golden Boot is always hard,” Kane said.
“The Premier League has been training some of the best strikers around the world for several years.
“I think every season I’ve played has always been a tough fight to win this Golden Boot, and it’s no different.
“You expect the best strikers to want to play in the Premier League, and with these two new signings it will be so.
“I think it helps me as a player to have good competition, it makes me improve and get better. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Preparations for Kane’s 2021-22 campaign were filled with distractions when City tried and failed to secure the services of the England striker, trying to replace the void left by Sergio Aguero at Etihad Stadium.
This time Kane will likely have a smoother pre-season training and will try to use that to prepare for the next campaign under Spurs head coach Antonio Conte.
“I try to focus on myself first. In any season, I have things I want to achieve and goals I want to achieve, ”he said.
“I try not to focus too much on other players in this aspect, I can’t control what they do.
“But I will continue to work hard and improve, and after this game take a good break, but then look forward to what will be a difficult pre-season.
“And then I’ll prepare for the new season, as I’ve been doing for the last seven or eight years.”
