Lefroy Exploration (LEX) has commenced a major reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Burns gold-copper deposit in Western Australia.

The purpose of this drilling is to evaluate the economics of the system at a distance of 200 meters from the surface and 700 meters along the length.

Drilling will take place both onshore and at Randall Lake (offshore), with the onshore portion already underway and offshore drilling expected to begin later this month.

Once received, the samples will be prioritized for gold analysis, with the first assays expected in November. The samples will then be analyzed for copper, silver and cobalt.

Depending on the analysis change, Lefroy expects to provide the first resource estimate for the shallow Burns portion in the March quarter.

This RC drilling follows the company’s first RC drilling program of 22 wells completed in January and February 2021.

The program intersected an impressive gold-copper interval of 38 meters at 7.63 g/t gold and 0.56 percent copper from 134 meters.

The results of this program highlighted the unique geological characteristics of Burns.

Exploration manager Wade Johnson said it was “another exciting period of exploration” at Burns.

“RC drilling is focused on the shallow part of the larger Burns system and is designed to produce the first gold and copper resource,” Mr Johnson said.

“This short-distance drilling data will also provide detailed geological information to guide further deep exploration of Burns, as well as several targets along the Burns Corridor.”

Lefroy ended the day down 3.45 percent to close at 28 cents.
