Ncuccu became the best player in the Bundesliga

Nkunku has won the Player of the Month award four times in Germany’s highest qualifier, a record for one season – in October, February, March and April – and was then awarded at the end of the season.

Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, who has linked with Manchester City, and Patrick Schick of Bayer Leverkusen have been in competition, but only the mascot of Bayern Munich (38) can boast more direct goals this time than Nkunku, who scored 13 goals and scored 20 goals and gear in the 34th league game.

At the same time, in the five best leagues in Europe in all competitions, only Karim Benzema (59), Killian Mbape (57) and Lewandowski 56) scored more goals than the Leipzig striker (50).

Such goal-scoring form and creativity led Leipzig to the Europa League semi-finals, where they were defeated by the Rangers, and helped them to finish fourth in the Bundesliga.

Ncuccu’s development has not gone unnoticed by French coach Didier Deschamps, as the 24-year-old made his debut for Les Bleus in a friendly against Côte d’Ivoire in March.

He hopes to introduce the Deschamps team as France seeks to defend its World Cup title in Qatar in November and December 2022.

Uncertainty remains over who Nkunku will play for next season, when Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interested, but Leipzig are keen to keep him.

United could be Nkunku’s most likely destination, given Ralph Rangnik’s connection to the Bundesliga.

Nkunku goes in search of success at DFB-Pokal, when on Saturday in the final in Berlin, “Leipzig” will meet with “Freiburg”.
