The strategy will set out the key operational models, principles and actions needed to improve service to emergency and public safety staff, streamline public radio communications and ensure the value of the New South Wales Government from 2015 to 2025.

We work with key agencies to identify their long-term communications that need to be included in strategy development.

Meanwhile, the government has approved a new circular to replace the Prime Minister’s Memorandum for 2010-2016. New Circular on Government Radiocommunication Strategy OFS-2014-02-NSW provides guidance to agencies to ensure that their decisions on investment in radio and related communications, spectrum planning and licensing are in line with future developments in the sector.

New mechanisms for approving significant expenditures on radio infrastructure and services

The Treasury and Financial Circular defines a number of measures that will guide agencies in planning their investment activities to ensure that they are in line with the general direction of the sector, except in cases.

The circular defines a new approval process for agencies wishing to invest in the following categories:

  • any significant costs (more than $ 500,000) for new radio assets and commercial services
  • for new sites or new towers on the site, regardless of cost.

This also applies if the agency wishes to purchase radio-related services without using an existing panel contract.
