With the desire to compete on the rise, 2023 will see a new addition to the national motor racing scene with the introduction of the Motorsport Australia Trophy Series.
The new Trophy Series will add more track time to the calendar and provide additional opportunities for many categories to race at Australia’s best tracks.
The first season of the new series will be held at three of the best special race tracks in Australia.
It will make its debut at Sydney Motorsport Park on June 16-18 before heading north to the newly rebuilt Queensland Raceway on the first weekend of August, with the season finale at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia on October 13-15.
These races will coincide with SpeedSeries events to provide back-to-back racing for the benefit of fans and competitors.
Motorsport Australia’s director of motorsport and commercial operations said the Trophy Series was created out of a strong desire for more racing opportunities.
“We have been in discussions with a wide range of category managers who have said they want more track time to expand their calendars and provide as many races as possible for their competitors,” Smith explained.
“Given this level of interest, we are delighted to confirm the debut of the Motorsport Australia Trophy Series in 2023. This will give the categories even more opportunities to race at iconic tracks across the country.
“Most of the events will also run either side of the SpeedSeries events, which means that logistically we can accommodate the venues for both events and will have the staff to run both races efficiently and sustainably.
“The category line-up for the Motorsport Australia Trophy Series is close to full, so there is real interest in these events and we know they will be a huge success in 2023 and beyond.”
