According to a recent poll Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadershipjob satisfaction among teachers dropped to 63%.
In 2017, teacher satisfaction was 91%.
In addition, 80% of educators now believe that their work-life balance is either “less or non-existent”. As a direct consequence, many teachers are now leaving the profession.
Mark Grant, director general of the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership, said Australia’s education system has been targeted by a competing crisis.
“Australian teachers are feeling the effects of two years of COVID-related stress, distance learning requirements and teacher shortages, and all of this is putting a strain on the profession,” he said.
