Scott Morrison leaves Kiribili House after election defeat by Labor MP Anthony Albanese

Mr Morrison was photographed leaving the Prime Minister’s official residence in Sydney shortly before 9am on Sunday.

Mr. Morrison left the estate along with his wife Jenny, mother and mother-in-law.

Morrison’s family left in a convoy of three cars, which passed journalists, photographers and cameramen standing at the gates of the house.

Mr Morrison did not stop to speak to the media as journalists speculated whether he was heading to church or returning to his local Cook electorate, which he held on amid the historic loss of the Liberals.

Mr Morrison announced last night that he would step down as leader of the Liberals after leading the coalition to defeat in the election after she spent nearly a decade in government.

The coalition probably lost five seats in the center of the Liberals to “hump” the independents, as well as some other losses for Labor.

The results mean that Mr. Morrison will have to hand over the keys to Kiribili’s house and the lodge in Canberra to Anthony Olbanese – the 31st elected Prime Minister of Australia.

But the Labor leader will have to wait for the final results to find out whether he will be able to form a majority government or whether he will need the support of independent and small parties.

On Sunday morning, several places were still in doubt.
