You turn 50 only once, and the BMW M unit makes the most of it.

His latest anniversary presentation is a special edition of the BMW M3 and BMW M4, which has lasted for 50 years.

The special M3 is only produced for the US and Canada, with a circulation of just 500 units, but the M4 50 Jahre is produced for China, Europe and “other individual sales regions”.

The M3 50 Jahre is perhaps an even more exciting color palette.

It will be available exclusively in the form of Competition xDrive for the US and Canada, and each of the 500 cars will be treated in a range of finishes inspired by the past colors of the BMW M.

The solid color Cinnabar Red comes from the E30 M3, Techno Violet from the E36 M3, Deep Interlagos Blue from the E46 M3, Fire Orange from the E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition and Limerock Gray from the F80 M3 CS.

BMW has done its best for its 50th anniversary by showing off the hotter M4 CSL and planning to introduce a production version of its Concept XM by the end of the year.

There may be more.

The M3 CS sedan and M3 Touring station wagon are expected to be unveiled this year, and the M4 CSL is rumored to receive an analogue with a mechanical transmission called the M4 GT / H.

BMW Blog also reports that the division is working on an ultra-exclusive M4 inspired by the 2015 CSL Hommage concept.
