Michael Paris talks about politics for the Newcastle Herald. He started working at the Herald in 1994 after working for ABC Newcastle. Michael spent most of his career as an editor-in-chief before moving into political reporting in 2017. He was a finalist for the National Sport of Australia Media Awards for reporting on the Men’s Tennis Club in Newcastle. He reported on the 2019 NSW and federal elections, state and federal budgets and local politics. He also wrote extensively about the COVID-19 pandemic with a particular focus on data analysis and the impact of the blockade on the Hunter community.
