The mobile app helps employees speak out for safety in the workplace

The Speak Up Save Lives app allows employees to anonymously express security issues in SafeWork NSW.

Since its launch two years ago, Speak Up Save Lives has helped SafeWork NSW prevent injuries and deaths: 1,297 incidents have been reported. Last year alone, 560 reports were filed that triggered a high-risk security intervention.

Fair Trade Minister Eleni Petinas said anonymity is a major problem for workers who fear that the statement could lead to punishment or even job loss.

“Performance can be scary. I want to assure employees that any identifying features of your submission will not be visible to your employer. Everyone has the right to a safe work space, ”Ms. Petinas said.

“I urge everyone who sees anything risky or dangerous at work to report it immediately. We all need to play our part in ensuring everyone’s safety. “

By law, businesses must report all incidents that need to be reported, including death, serious injury or illness, or a dangerous incident, by phone 13 10 50 immediately.
