If there is one room in the house that is perpetually chaotic, it is most likely the laundry room. It is usually a small space where you spend too much time. While your laundry can be a complete mess, smart design can transform a space into something stylish and functional.
Head of the Design and Innovation Department MethvenAndy Gregor, says that the laundry room is one of the most important places in your home.
“A few simple design changes can make a big difference to the functionality and efficiency of a laundry room without compromising on style,” says Andy.
Storage is key
Often one of the smallest rooms in the home, storage solutions are an integral part of a functional laundry room. A top tip is to include as many cupboards as possible to create extra storage space and add a trolley for moving around. Another option is to add a row of baskets and baskets to help organize, and you can try mounting an iron to the wall to create more floor space.
Fittings and faucets
In many homes, the laundry room is an extension of the bathroom and kitchen, so to maintain a seamless flow, try adding fixtures and fittings in the same colors and styles as the rest of your home.
“Faucets can often set the theme of your room and play an important role in the functionality of the laundry room,” says Andy.
“When choosing laundry fixtures and fittings, think about what you want from the fixtures and the wider design of the laundry room.”
Update your tiles
Tile in your laundry room can dramatically change the tone of the room and change the overall style and feel. If you want something timeless and simple, try the ever-popular white classic tile, or if you want something unique, you can experiment with block color or patterned tiles.
If you have the desire to change the configuration of the laundry room during the renovation, just take a moment to reevaluate. Andy says that this can often be unnecessary and not cost-effective. To make the space feel bigger, add some personal touches like a mirror and plants that will also enhance the room to make it feel lighter.
