Video review of the Subaru WRX 2022

WRX – If it seems that since Subaru sent us the new WRX, it seems like it’s age, you’re right, and here it is, a brand new 2022 Subaru WRX sedan and station wagon.

WRX is all new, including engine 2.4. If you’ve seen photos from abroad, then the sedan has garnered unpleasant criticism from the rather bizarre-looking plaited side dishes of the wheel arches. WRX has always had its haters. The Levorg station wagon from the previous generation never got the noise it deserved. It was a different machine than the WRX, but was so close that there was nothing wrong.

This time Subaru did not make such a mistake. Although the sedan is a bit wider, thanks to the large wings, they are clearly twins.

LED lighting with twilight support and high beam support, but there are no fancy matrix systems. They really do a very good job.

The station wagon is prettier, but the sedan has huge chunky taillights that signify the case. The view is not at all removed from what has been replaced. I’m glad that Subaru resisted the desire to include in the list of standard transmission wheels the size of a satellite dish. It makes the trip even worse and does nothing but ego.

The quality inside is a significant improvement over the old car.

Disappeared useless 3etc. An LCD screen with infotainment program via an 11.6-inch portrait tablet using a 4.2-inch MFD on the driver’s panel. There is no HUD, and the driver has the usual dials. In order for such a shamelessly male car to be full of firmness and determination, Subaru must climb deep into its tanks and immediately correct this mistake.

The seats are comfortable, but not all models can be adjusted with the drive. It looks quite stylish, even in a fabric-covered base car.

The dashboard also looks more modern.

There is a horn of abundance of surfaces and materials that make you stroke them in moments of wandering attention.

There is more than enough space behind for short trips, but the WRX is a small car, and as a tourist it is only a 2-car.

There’s plenty of USB, wired Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, great climate control and chic Harmon Kardon sound. The latter is reserved only for sedans, which should definitely be related to counting beans

The switches are easy to reach and use, and the atmosphere is generally a slightly adult boy-racer. I’m glad the WRX hasn’t lost its youthful richness, but it doesn’t feel as harsh and dangerous as it once did in the days when it struggled with the EVO X with love for our inner God.

WRX is a road, its complex and quite excellent interaction with the car and the driver.

The station wagon certainly feels softer on the road, but everything is relative and the ride is still firm. Subaru says the wagon is designed for the family shopper, while the sedan, especially in the manual, is a serious experience. However is it?

The 202 kW / 350 Nm flat four-engine boxer comes with either a revised 6-speed mechanical machine or an 8-speed Sport Lineartronic variator. 6.1 seconds 0-100 have not been confirmed in Australia and we have read various figures elsewhere, but everything with 6 ahead does not feel terribly tough. No STI model, so that’s your share.

The 8-model lineup has a manual version, but only in a sedan like the WRX and WRX RS models. The CVT is available in sedans like the WRX, with the RS and tS topping the sedan list, as well as the Sportswagon, GT and tS versions. All have all-wheel drive with the claimed savings of 9.9 l / 100 thousand for manual and 8.5 for variator transmission.

All models have Macpherson struts at the front and double levers at the rear. The tS versions add variable electronic suspension flaps that vary depending on driving modes. Driving modes have the inevitable names: Comfort, Normal, Sport, Sport + and Individual. There is also a Track mode on a separate button. We did a couple of Winton racetrack tracks in a mechanically controlled sedan. Because there is no adaptive suspension in the instructions, we were unable to obtain a full chocolate rod.

Buyers can buy WRX for the purpose of tracking the days, but I bet most of them won’t go any further than riding in the mountains on the weekends, as we did. If you want to look STi, there are a number of accessories. Unfortunately, none of them provide more power.

The electric steering is well tuned, with plenty of perceived feedback. Rapid changes of direction are sent like a mountain goat in full play.

It may have been a burden of anticipation, but the WRX felt as if it had become wiser and wiser, but only a little softer.

Track days are fun, and they cost many shekels of someone’s money.

It’s a ticket to take your trip by the neck and twist it to the fullest. The acceleration is smooth, and the engine has a low enough grunt to quickly get out of the mark. Even letting go, the WRX stays calm and balanced and feels all but not harsh.

At the same time in the hands of a competent driver Subaru – a weapon. However, in my hands this experience is generally more controlled by Miss Daisy than the scene from Bullitt.

Manual WRXs do not need rive modes. They give everything they got from the beginning. Try not to get close to the speed limiter, as this does not lead to the end of compliance, as it delays the excitement to protect yourself.
