“Voice” is in its final week, and Tando Sequila has big plans if she wins the crown

You may not have heard of her a few months ago, but Tanda Sequila wants the world to know who she is.

After weeks of blind auditions, callbacks, cuts and battles, the Melbourne singer has become one of the four finalists for The Voice Australia and has big goals if she wins the crown.

Sequila – who is part of the team of superstar coach Keith Urban – knows how fierce the competition can be. She participated in the third season of the show in 2014 together with the winner Anya Nissen, who represented Denmark at Eurovision in 2017.

“That’s what made me say, ‘Oh, if I ever played The Voice again, that would be the ultimate goal.’ Nissen’s speech.

“Can you imagine yourself an Australian contender of the same caliber?

“I think it’s just about the level or caliber of artistry and technical skill, or how great people’s voices have to be to be able to stand on the world stage and represent the whole country in one of the biggest music competitions in the world.” .

Although she failed last time, Sequila was able to see herself as an artist.

“It seems to me that I’ve just fully come to my senses as an artist,” she said.

“I participated in the competition as a soul singer, as an R&B artist, but I transformed into this, I suppose, station wagon.

“You have to be able to be versatile to survive in this industry. So I think a pressure cooker, like The Voice, is the perfect place for that. Learn everything you need to know so you can get out into the global industry ready.

“I just want Australia to pay attention to me and see me in a situation where I don’t know, maybe one day I’ll be as prolific as someone like Tina Arena.”

Watch the grand finale of The Voice Sunday, which can not be missed on channels 7 and 7plus.
