Western Australia’s sarcastic Harry Potter home page with Mark McGowan and Peter Dathan goes viral

The sarcastic homepage of Western Australia, featuring Mark McGowan as Harry Potter and Peter Dathan as his nemesis Voldemort, has gone viral across the country.

On the front page of “Mark McGowan and a not-so-smart, absolutely insane extremist,” the new federal opposition leader stands over the prime minister with a wand at the ready and seems ready to strike.

But Mr. McGowan, dressed in the iconic round magician’s spectacles, looks intact.

The cover was inspired when Mr McGowan unloaded Mr Dathan, calling him an “extremist” who is not “so smart”.

During the huge meeting of the Prime Minister, he also called the Liberal Party – at the state and federal levels – a “mobile group”.

Hundreds of thousands of people saw the homepage with some hilarious comments.

Reader Michael Ginever commented on Facebook: “Dathan as Valdermort is actually unfair to Valdermort.”

Rodney Slepp posted: “Now funny, Dathan looks like Voldemort.”

A Twitter user who wrote Nixlaas said, “This should be the best homepage I’ve seen in a long time.”
