At a recent fundraising event in Sydney, former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie surprised everyone by bursting into the show’s iconic theme song. Ritchie, known for her role as Sally Fletcher on the series for two decades, was attending the Sony Foundation’s Wharf4Ward event when she was challenged to perform the classic tune live.

The event quickly turned into a Home and Away karaoke session as Ritchie enthusiastically belted out the familiar song. Later, she shared the moment on Instagram, calling it all in the name of charity.

In the video, amidst laughter, the MC jokingly told Ritchie there was no pressure. To which she responded, “All right, but I want you all to join in! Are you ready guys?” With that, she began singing, and soon, the entire room joined her in the chorus.

Fans were thrilled by her spirited performance, flooding the comments section with praise and excitement. Some even suggested creating a remix featuring Kate Ritchie.

Wharf4Ward, organized by the Sony Foundation, is a major fundraising event that brings together over a thousand guests at Sydney’s Woolloomooloo Wharf. It features Sony Music artist performances, celebrity hosts, luxury auctions, and various entertainment activities, all in support of the youth cancer charity, You Can.

The Home and Away theme song, written by Mike Perjanik, has become iconic since its debut in 1989. Over the years, there have been multiple versions, but the sung version returned to the show’s opening titles in 2018.

Kate Ritchie’s spontaneous performance injected a fresh wave of enthusiasm into the event, underscoring her enduring attachment to the beloved Australian TV series. As she flawlessly belted out the iconic theme song, Ritchie’s connection to her character Sally Fletcher from Home and Away became palpable. The audience’s eager participation mirrored their shared affection for the show, creating a memorable moment of unity and nostalgia. Ritchie’s willingness to embrace her role even after two decades since leaving the series resonated deeply with fans, solidifying her status as a cherished figure in Australian television history.
